Kitaj is an experienced litigator having advised on a broad range of commercial disputes and regulatory investigations. She holds a BA and LLB (Hons) from the University of Auckland and an LLM from the University of Cambridge.
Kitaj commenced practice at a leading NZ law firm in 2008. Kitaj joined Wilson Harle on her return to New Zealand in 2020, following 9 years in London working for a large law firm and in-house at two global FTSE100 FMCG companies.
Most recently in London, Kitaj led a team responsible for litigation and regulatory investigations at the UK’s largest supermarket. Her role covered a wide variety of matters including contractual and property disputes, H&S and food safety investigations and prosecutions, competition damages claims, and various regulatory and civil issues arising out of an overstatement of expected profits to the share market.
Drawing on this experience, Kitaj brings a unique perspective to providing pragmatic, strategically-focused advice for clients.
Kitaj has managed litigation and the response to regulatory prosecutions in the UK equivalent of the High Court and District Court, and large-scale arbitrations. She has facilitated the successful settlement of disputes, through negotiation and mediations, both before and after proceedings have been issued.
